Coconut Grove was founded in 1873 by pioneers, artists, intellectuals and adventurers. It is one of the oldest communities in Miami and is the home of 16 natural parks making it one of the greenest places in Miami. Among these is the Kampong, a tropical garden that was originally the home of famed horticulturalist Dr. David Fairchild in the early twentieth century.
Coconut Grove is home of the legendary Mutiny Hotel. Recently the book "Hotel Scarface: Where Cocaine Cowboys Partied and Plotted to Control Miami” was written about the Mutiny's legendary tales. The hotel was completely renovated some years ago, it still maintains its charm and its notorious pirate logo.
